Did you know that the epic film Apocalypse Now was shot in the Philippines?  Philippines is an island nation that has experienced more than 300 years of colonial rule and around 50 years of imperialism under the United States of America.  Plus the fact, of course, that the island nation is strategically located in the Asia Pacific.  Philippines is also known as the Pearl of the Orient Seas.  There is no other country in the world that can honestly say East Meets West without batting an eyelash.  Only the Philippines!  The name Philippines and its Spanish counterpart, Filipinas, are derived from the name of Phillip II, the King of Spain in the late 16th century.  Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos used the name Las Islas Filipinas in honor of the then-Crown Prince during his visit to the Philippines, originally referring to the islands of Leyte and Samar. Despite the presence of other names, the name Filipinas was eventually adopted as the name of the entire archipelago.  Visit Philippines once and for all now as the people in the more than 7,000 islands are hospitable and you may find lovely women seeking a man of their dreams there.  What sets out the country apart from the rest is the warmth, positive spirit and hospitality of its people.
