Smoking In Cyprus

In many Mediterranean countries, attitudes to smoking are fairly relaxed. In Cyprus, despite owning a tobacco industry, there is evidence to suggest that attitudes are hardening towards smoking.

Currently, in many locations such as Cyprus all inclusive, ashtrays can be seen almost everywhere. However, the message from anti smoking lobby as well as from the medical profession does seem to be getting through.

Many Cyprus hotels now have no smoking areas. Cyprus Airways, in conjunction with all other international airlines, has no smoking policy on all its flights.

There is evidence that in Northern Cyprus, attitudes towards smoking is more relaxed.
