Pains from Bad Jokes

More often than not public speakers begin speeches with bad jokes. These opening bad jokes are made obvious by the collective reactions of the audiences. Most audiences, out of empathy for the speaker force a laugh or applaud bad jokes. Good manners and social grace dictate listeners react positively to bad jokes delivered in these cases. How should a listener in a private situation handle hearing a bad joke? It depends on the relationship of speaker and listener. A laugh at a superior’s bad joke in the work place is appropriate. But, a laugh is not the necessary response to an obnoxious stranger’s bad joke.
