Ipod and Codecs
So how does an ipod work? The Ipod can store many hours of music and movies on its harddrive. Why? Because it uses codecs that compress Mp3 or other compatible formats such as MP4. Codecs stand for compression decompression algorithms and allow you to shrink large files into extremely small files. The Ipod comes with a digital audio chip that can read those shrunken files and is able to create high quality audio or movie files. Because of the ability to store numerous hours of music, the ipod is one of the most popular gadgets these days. So if you are not yet proud owner of an ipod you should definitely get one!
