Learning new skills

I really want to learn some new skills so that I can get a better paying and more rewarding job. I really hate my jobs right now, and I hardly seem to see my kids since I am always working to pay the bills. I would like to go back to school, so I am wondering if there are any government grants for single mothers to help them do things like this so that they can stay off welfare. Can anyone recommend any good sources of financial aid for single mothers? I want to go part time to college so I can get a 9-5 job that pays well enough so I won’t need to work a second job anymore.
