Even Toddlers Can Learn How to Knit.

You’re never too young, or old, to learn how to knit.  Consider the case of the three-year old who loves to watch her mother knit. Before she was barely able to pronounce the word knitting, she was already asking her mother to teach her how to do it.  The mother, of course, put off the young child, thinking that she was way too young to manipulate the knitting needles properly.  But as we all know, children can be very persistent and can usually outlast most adults in that persistence when they have a specific goal in mind.  In this case, the young girl kept asking over and over for her mother to teach her how to knit.  Finally, the mother relented and sat down with the young girl for an hour or so and taught her the knitting basics.  To her surprise, the young girl was actually able to learn how to make a stitch even at the young age of three.  Now of course the quality of the stitching was not terribly good, however, the point was that the little girl loved the fact that her mother was teaching her and she loved the actual knitting even more.

So the next time, a young child asks you to help them learn how to knit, don’t dismiss them right away just because of their age.  They may not be able to become an expert at it for a few years, but they will at least be able to learn the basics and enjoy the knitting craft just like you.
