Spine surgery was not needed - and boy was I relieved

I remember the pain, and am glad it did not end in spine surgery. This is my story. I was washing our car after a holiday, one hot summer day, and leaned over with the hose in my hand. Wrong! As I bent down I felt a twinge of soft, deadened pain in my lower back and up my spine. As I straightened up I realized something was seriously wrong. I couldn’t get relief from that pain in my lower spine. After some time of curving my back in the other direction the pain settled down. But I had to move about carefully for the rest of the day and things were still not right with my back and my spine by Monday. So I went to a physio and she said I would not need spine surgery — just exercise. That was a big relief. In a week I was back to normal, not with surgery, but with six or seven days of simple exercises only.
