Golf shots are a combination of judging distance and the effects of the wind and ground on the ball and the execution of your swing. However, when it comes to putting your mental calculations are especially important.
Putting can be difficult but here is a free golf tip to help you get that perfect putt.
Instead of the common practice of pacing the distance to the cup simply stand over the ball and look at the line to the hole and mentally measure the distance to the hole in 5 or 10 foot intervals. Next, check the texture of the grass and, most important, note the direction in which the grass is growing!
If the grass is growing towards the hole then you will not need to hit the ball as hard as you will if the grass is growing towards you. Remember too that the ‘grain’ of the grass (essentially its length and texture) will also affect the speed and distance of your ball, so also look very closely at this to decide whether you will need ‘more’ or ‘less’ power in your putt.
