When you sail down the California coast from San Francisco to Mexico you see many spectacular sights along the way. One of the more curious starts just above Santa Barbara. If you first see them at night you think you are sailing into a major flotilla. They are actually the California offshore oil rigs. The people on them always appear busy and I often wondered what kind of work is found among the offshore oil rig jobs. I have been told that they employ just about all of the trades on the rigs. In addition they have people involved in providing hotel services.
