In entry level jobs, you’ve got to volunteer for the hard assignments

Serving as an employee in entry level jobs is not an easy thing — most people don’t know you very well, and many will be wishing and hoping that you will fail. If you want to enhance your reputation, don’t shy away from working hard — when it comes time for the difficult assignments, be one of the first to raise your hand to enthusiastically volunteer. Your fellow employees may be cynical about your motives, that doesn’t really matter — what is important is that you create the best possible impression with your supervisor or manager — as these are the people who will be responsible for promoting you in the future
